Televox

Televox.jpg (25509 bytes) Remember Televox? TTAN contributor Bryan Green does!

This was a clever service that required the viewer to 'phone Televox to allow navigation of the pages, they would then allocate a unique serial number (like a PIN) to the caller, who would insert this in the Alarm Clock timer/ sub-page select mode.

Televox would initially ask for various commands to be given so it could recognise your voice. The caller's pages would then only be displayed on his TV. Bryan says he  tried this via the freephone number and it worked well. "Amazing to think that the spoken word travelled down a copper wire to Televox who would send the page to be inserted in the ITV picture signal and thence transmitted over the air to be received back in the caller's living room."

These pages date from 1988/1989.
